Court reinstates Ackim Mwanza as Northern Region Governor, Mzomera Ngwira out

The High Court of Malawi has reinstated the unceremoniously deposed Regional Governor for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to his position.

The High Court of Malawi has reinstated the unceremoniously deposed Regional Governor for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to his position.

This effectively renders Christopher Mzomera Ngwira, who was convicted of theft of the Constituency Development Fund when he was an MP and only set free on medical grounds, jobless in the party.

Malawians have since blamed party leader Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika of being behind the confusion that is reigning high in the erstwhile governing party.

Reinstated as DPP Northern Region Governor – MWANZA

The court has since instructed DPP to file defence within 28 days from May 26, 2023. 

The court has also issued a directive that within 14 days, the party must indicate if it will file defence or not.

Meanwhile, sources within the DPP family say the party has failed to vacate an injunction Regional Governor for the South, Charles Mchacha, obtained from the court to stop it from dismissing him from his post.
