The football fraternity has been plunged into mourning following the sudden passing of Gift Nathaniel Mkamanga, the Assistant Coach of Chitipa United FC.
Mkamanga tragically collapsed Thursday morning while attending a CAF B coaching course at Chiwembe in Blantyre.

His body has since been transferred to the College of Medicine for a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.
In a statement, the Super League of Malawi (SULOM) has expressed its deep sorrow over the tragic loss of Mkamanga.

“We are shocked and saddened by the untimely demise of Gift Mkamanga. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family, friends, and the entire Chitipa United community during this difficult time. His legacy will forever be remembered in our hearts and on the field,” the statement read.
Chitipa United’s General Secretary, Watson Kabaghe, also paid tribute to Mkamanga’s impact on the team, describing him as a dedicated mentor.
“Coach Mkamanga was a pillar of strength and wisdom for our team. We are devastated by his passing and will forever cherish the guidance he provided to both players and staff,” said Kabaghe.
In honor of Mkamanga, SULOM has postponed the Super League match between Chitipa United and Moyale, originally scheduled for Saturday, 5th October 2024, to a later date.
