A study has established that pregnant women who smoke (tobacco) are at a greater risk of delivering stillbirths, premature births and/or miscarriage while passive smokers (exposure of the non-smoking mother to second-hand smoke) run the risk of harming the fetus.

Chakwera says govt will recruit 10, 000 HSAs to boost health delivery services

President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has disclosed that the government will recruit over 10, 000 additional Health Surveillance Assistants (HSAs) as well as increase the number of Assistant Environmental Health Officers, Community Health Nurses, and Community Midwife Assistants to improve and boost delivery of healthcare services across the strata.
