The Malawi Council for Disability Affairs (MACODA) held a disability rights clinic in Machinga to raise public awareness about the newly enacted Persons with Disabilities Act of 2024, aiming to promote inclusion, equality, and protection of the rights of persons with disabilities across social, economic, and political sectors. The campaign addressed widespread ignorance in communities about disability rights, which contributes to marginalisation and abuse.
Minister Uchizi Mkandawire honoured Tabitha Chawinga with the RASA award at Bingu National Stadium, calling it a historic milestone for Malawi’s sports. Chawinga dedicated the award to the nation and urged young athletes to represent Malawi proudly, as the country prepares to send a record 165 athletes to the upcoming AUSC Region 5 Youth Games.
