Illovo commits to promotion of sustainable development, social responsibilities

Illovo Sugar Malawi Plc has expressed commitment to promoting and supporting national efforts aimed to drive sustainable development and social responsibilities.

In a statement released as part of the commemoration of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) Day, Illovo said it remains dedicated in collaborating with communities and stakeholders to identify areas of mutual concern and create lasting positive impact.

The company said through its Dwangwa Estate, it has invested over MK450 million towards education, MK30 million towards potable water while over 100 hectares of land has been donated to LUANAR for maize production in order to support food security initiative.

In the health sector, the company has contributed over MK90 million towards various projects. It has also contributed 20, 000 tree seedlings to Nkhotakota District Council to the tune of MK6 million. 

The whole initiative has grossed over MK600 million.
