Chakwera described the launch of the Malawi Agricultural Mechanisation Initiative on Thursday as the beginning of the journey towards the fulfilment of the promise.

“Going forward, farmers will access modern farming equipment to help them increase profitability,” he said.

The Malawi leader therefore thanked the partnerships realised with the private sector – Pyxus Agriculture Malawi and Philip Morris International, who are giving local mechanised farming services to entrepreneurs.

Meanwhile, the newly-commissioned tractor loan facility has today benefited the first 23 farmers of the many yet to come.
