NGO donates supplies to four health centres in Karonga

Pamoza Tingakwaniska, a local Youth led Non-Governmental Organization based in karonga District has on Wednesday donated medical supplies to Kayelekera, Iponga, Mlare and Nyungwe Health centres in an effort to address challenges in Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) service delivery.

This follows need assessment that the organization conducted in the health centres pertaining to provision of family planning and SRH services to community members within the organization’s Fiska Ulato project implementation area.

Programs Manager for the organization, Gomezgani Mhango said they expect the donation to go a long way in addressing challenges that are faced in service delivery and contribute towards wellbeing of communities.

“Shortage of supplies hinders access to SRH services in these health centers, with this donation, we believe that we will address the challenge and contribute towards well-being of communities, bring an end to cases of unplanned pregnancies thereby helping communities achieve their goals without hindrance of unplanned pregnancies,” she said.

The consignment included; surgical blades, Plasta, Cotton wool, disposable Aprons, Gauze bandage, Pregnancy Test kits, Ibuprufen, Square Gauze and spirit.

Nurse and Midwife technician for Kayelekela Health centre, Innocent Gangata described the donation as timely saying it will address challenges they have been facing in provision of family planning methods and SRH services.

“One of problems that we face in service delivery here is shortage of supplies, so this donation has come at a right time and these supplies will address the challenge, we are therefore very grateful to Pamoza Tingakwaniska for this timely donation,” he said.

Midwife technician for Mlare Health Centre, Emily Kayuni echoed Gangata’s words and had this to say:

‘”We are very happy to receive this consignment, it is not the first time to receive such a donation from Pamoza Tingakwaniska, such donations are smoothening provision of Family Planning methods in our facility.”

In addition to donation of medical supplies, the organization as also supported youth friendly department of Iponga Health centre with recreational materials for the youth.

Pamoza Tingakwaniska made the donation through its Fiska Ulato project which is being implemented in karonga district with financial support from Breuckmann foundation.
