MEC calls for free, fair elections by-elections in Dedza Central Constituency

Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has called for free and fair by-elections in Dedza Central Constituency.

MEC Commissioner Olivia Liwewe made the call during a training with presiding officers on polling procedures and results management.

The people of Dedza Central Constituency are going to a by-election on November 16, 2023, following the death of the former lawmaker in July this year.

Liwewe, therefore, said the tray was organized to equip presiding officers with new roles in line with the new procedures of elections at a polling station.

Liwewe added that ever presiding officers are supposed to monitor the whole electoral process and take the elections seriously by making sure that everything is inorder for the elections to be fair and free.

Three candidates will contest , Willard Alfred Gwengwe representing the Malawi congress party (MCP) Jacob Joseph Kaumphawi independent candidate and Andrew Ndekha Mtunga Kowedza representing the Democratic progressive party (DPP).
