Chakwera commends Gates Foundation contribution to Malawi

Good gesture deserves thank you. This is exactly what President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera did by inviting Melinda Gates, Co-Chair of Gates and Melinda Foundation in the country to express gratitude for the Foundation’s contributions to different socioeconomic programmes in the country.

During the meeting, President Chakwera thanked Madam Gates for her Foundation’s $76 million package financing various socioeconomic programmes in Malawi.

President Chakwera also seized an opportunity during the interface to present a framework for scaling up the Gates Foundation support in the future, particularly in the areas of women and girls empowerment through the provision of education, entrepreneurship, health and digital services.

In her remarks, Madam Gates said he was thrilled to have an opportunity to work with the Malawi Head of State in building a partnership between her organization and the Malawi government.

Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is a philanthropic organisation founded on the premise of fighting poverty, diseases and inequalities around the world with the war chest in excess of $60 billion.
