Speaking Tuesday, on behalf of the chiefs, after the council had handed over a K46 million house for a community development assistant to communities at Iponga, Senior Chief Mwakaboko said completion of the house construction project, among others, is an indication of the council’s improved service delivery.

“I am excited with the completion of the house, since it was a project from our Area Development Committee Development Plans which we presented to the council,” he said.

He said following the provision of accommodation to a community development assistant, it is expected that the area will be served as is expected.

He, therefore, called upon community members to own the house and carry out maintenance works on it if need be for it to last long.

Chief Planning Officer for Karonga District Council, Khumbo Mkandawire said the council considers the public’s welfare as paramount hence providing communities with value for money and standard infrastructures.

In his remarks, Chairperson for Karonga District Council, Misheck Mwaijengo was pleased with the relationship that exists between traditional leaders and the council’s secretariat saying such a development is paramount for continued development in the district.
