Machinga Police Officer In-Charge, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police, Jane Mandala and officers from the station on Friday carried out a cleanup exercise of the police Station and market center as a way of joining hands with other stakeholders in the district to make Machinga a better place to live.

Mandala appealed to fellow women and men in uniform that they should always join other partners in cleaning waste that compromises health and hygiene of residents in the district.
The cleanup exercise was done at Machinga police Station premises during a cleanup day which falls Friday of every second week of the month
“This is a rare opportunity for us to ensure that the environment we are living in is clean and better place for everyone. We have a crucial role in making sure that our premises are clean always.
“Let all officers to take part in all the activities that will make the environment hygienically clean. Let everyone work as one family with one heart to beautify the district,” said Mandala.
Machinga District Environmental Officer, Andrew Hamuza hailed Mandala for mobilising the police officers under her charge to join the national call for the cleanup, saying this was a good gesture from partners such as the Malawi Police Services.
Hamza added that time has come for every citizen in the district to take part in ensuring that the environment they live is always clean.
“Machinga District Council is pleased to see women and men in uniform taking part in this noble activity. This shows that everyone has a role to play in ensuring that the environment is clean all the time,” he said and called on other partners to also clean areas that needs cleaning up. Machinga District Council officials and Health Center officers joined the Police officers in the cleanup exercise from the police premises to Machinga market place.
