President Chakwera bestows K1 million to Chilimas sister on her wedding

President Lazarus Chakwera on Saturday presented a gift of  K1 million to Vice President Saulos Chilima’s sister on her wedding day.

 Tionge Chilima got married to Erasmus Phiri at Living Waters Church in Chigumula and later held their wedding reception at Amarylis Hotel in Blantyre

Making an announcement during the event, Durector of ceremony at the wedding Timpunza Mwansambo said the President has also donated a new fridge to the new couple. 

Minister of health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda who was accompanied by Minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare, Jean Sendeza presented the gifts to the couple on behalf of the president during the reception.

Vice President Saulos Chilima and several cabinet ministers including Minister of Natural Resources and Climate Michael Usi Change, Minister of Water and Sanitation Abida Sidik Mia and Minister of Labour Agnes Nyalonje, were notable guests at the wedding.

Speaking during the reception, Maston Veluvelu, father to Erasmus said he is happy that his son has finally got a wife who is caring, hard worker and trustworthy.

“Today I am a very excited person, I just want to thank all people who have made this wedding possible,” said Veluvelu.

Taking his turn speaking on behalf of the bride’s family Francis Zuze wished the two  a happy life and welcomed both into the family. 

Said Zuze,” I wish you much love and happiness in your new life together. As a parent I am happy with this new journey.
