All is set for MSCE examinations-MANEB

Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) has said everything is set for the administration of the 2023 Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations.

With only a day before the commencement of the examinations, MANEB Public Relations Officer Mayamiko Chiwaya said the board looks forward to successful administration of the examinations.

“Today the candidates all over the country have reported at their respective examination centers where they will be taken through rules and regulations for the examinations in preparation for the same,” said Chiwaya.

Without specifically disclosing measures which have been put in place to avoid cheating and any examination related malpractice, Chiwaya assured the general public that the examinations will run smoothly.

“We cannot disclose what these measures are because they are security issues and revealing them to the public would jeopardize the strategies, however the public should be assured that everything is in place,” she said.

She said a total of 160, 586 candidates are expected to sit for the examinations and these include those whose examination fees were mismanaged by their schools’ authorities.

Chiwaya: Everything is set

“You may wish to know that in a media statement of May 2023, we indicated that we had a total of 160, 524 but now the current candidature’s total is 160, 586 owing to the fact that we have taken on board candidates whose examination fees were misappropriated by their school authorities.” She said.

Public Relations Officer for Ministry of Education, Mphatso Nkuonera, said the ministry is very prepared for the examinations and wished the candidates well.

“We wish the candidates all the best. We would like to also warn candidates against cheating during examinations as such malpractices attract serious repercussions.” he said.

One of the candidates for this year’s MSCE examinations, Beatrice Manda, a student at Katoto Community Day Secondary School in Mzuzu said she was enthusiastic for the upcoming examinations saying she is well prepared for the task.

“I had enough time to prepare and whenever I was struggling, my teachers used to assist me. I hope that I will do well and I will remember all what I learnt and studied,” she said.

The examinations are scheduled to start from June 27 to July, 2023.
