Chitipa United FC continue with their impressive performance in the Super League as they beat Kamuzu Barracks FC 1:0 during an encounter played at Karonga Stadium on Saturday.

Mabuchi Msiska’s only goal, which was scored through the right foot in the 19-minute match, proved decisive for Chitipa United FC to harvest all three points as efforts from their opponent did not produce any goals.

The visitors looked determined from the beginning as they produced a number of near-score opportunities which were intercepted by Chitipa’s goalkeeper George Chikooka.

The first highlight came in the seven-minute as Mathews Maulombo made a shot on target which was only parried away by Chikooka.

Another fierce attack by the visitors was recorded in the 13-minute as Samson Chiponda fired the ball on the goal post, only to be denied the joy by the Chitipa United goalkeeper’s punch.

In the 19-minute of the match, Chitipa United made a coordinated attack and engulfed the defense of Kamuzu Barracks as Mabuchi Msiska fired the shot which landed fiercely into the net of Kamuzu Barracks leaving the goalkeeper in a hopeless state.

The first half ended 1:0.

In the second half, all the coordinated attacks and shots on the target that Kamuzu Barracks recorded were turned down by George Chikooka who was later clowned man of the match for his outstanding support.

Speaking in a post-match interview coach for Kamuzu Barracks, Alick Chirwa accepted the defeat and urged the supporters not to lose hope.

“Miscommunication between the boys has cost the team. When we go back, we will correct these mistakes and do better in the next matches,” Chirwa said.

On his part, Chitipa United coach Macdonald Nginde Mtetemera was pleased with the performance of the team and he thanked the players for their dedication.
