“As people of the collar, we need to be ready to reach out to people to meet their physical and spiritual needs,” Mkandawire explained.

Bishop Mkandawire also pointed out that church leaders play a critical role in shaping societal attitudes, stressing how leveraging this influence effectively can aid Malawi in achieving its developmental goals.

He pointed out that graduates have acquired competent academic tools that will help them change their mindset, in order to positively influence their followers.

“In Malawi, we have the Malawi 2063 Agenda which has seven pillars, and one of the pillars is mindset change. As church leaders, we need to take an opportunity of church gatherings to disseminate the mindset change messages just as we do with the word of God,” Mkandawire added.

Speaking after the graduation, one of the graduates, Reverend Kamu Chirambo expressed his readiness to implement the knowledge and skills acquired .

“Being a pastor or a reverend is not easy, but with the education we have received, I believe I am fully equipped to preach the word of God and extend its reach,” Chirambo challenged.

A total of 203 pastors have graduated from the first cohort.
