Lingadzi Police arrest man for defilement

Posted in

Police at Lingadzi in Lilongwe have arrested 60-year-old Amos Kambewa on suspicion that he defiled a 15-year-old girl.

A police report says on February 24, 2023,  the girl departed from Mchinji to LiLongwe where she arrived at night.

The girl however met a stranger who later abandoned her at Area 12. The victim was stranded and did not know where to go.

Taking advantage of her desperation, some people who acted as Good Samaritans offered her a place to sleep.

It was during that midnight that Kambewa defiled her while threatening to harm her if she dared to shout.

The following morning, the girl reported the matter to Lingadzi Police Station where she was issued a referral letter to Kamuzu Central Hospital.

The results revealed that she was indeed defiled.

Lingadzi Police Station assistant publicist Constable Maria Kumwenda confirmed about the arrest of Kambewa

“Police have arrested Kambewa and has been charged with defilement, which is contrary to section 138 of the Penal Code and will appear before court after the completion of paperwork,” said Kumwenda

Kambewa hails from Chiwamba Village in the area of Traditional Authority Chimutu in Lilongwe.
