Incredible Opportunity as Malawi Seeks Life-Changing Investments at African Summit

State President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera is set to attend the 2023 African Heads of State Human Capital Summit Meeting on 26th July 2023 in Dar es Salaam in the United Republic of Tanzania.

A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which Nthanda Times has seen, says President Chakwera, together with First Lady Madame Monica Chakwera, will fly to Tanzania on Tuesday 25th July 2023 at 5:00 pm, and return on 27th July 2023 at 7:30 am.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform members of the republic that His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, and Her Excellency Madame Monica Chakwera, First Lady of the Republic of Malawi, will attend the African Heads of State Human Capital Summit Meeting scheduled to take place in Dar es Salaam in the United Republic of Tanzania on 26th July 2023,” reads part of the statement.

According to the statement, the summit will help the country to unlock more financing for the country in health, labour, youth empowerment, education, and early childhood education.

CHAKWERA – His attendance will help unlock financing for Malawi in health, labour, youth empowerment, education, and early childhood development.

“During deliberations, His Excellency the President will address the Summit to promote Malawi’s interests in health, labour, youth empowerment, education, and early childhood development, for the achievement of Agenda 2063 of the African Union, thus potentially unlocking more financing for Malawi in these areas,” reads part of the statement.

The Summit comes in response to engagements with government focal points on the need to draw attention to the role of human capital in economic growth and elevate the discussion on the importance of investing in people. 

The Summit which will be hosted by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and supported by the World Bank will foster technical deliberation, share the latest knowledge on human capital, and conclude with concrete commitments and next steps from the participating Heads of State.

The 2023 Summit will be held from 25th July 2023 to 26th July 2023 under the theme Investing in people for building a high-productivity, inclusive, resilient economy.
