MCP flags irregularities in the 16 Sept polls
The pressure continues piling up for the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) as the party appears to have lost the September 16, 2025 elections to the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
As the country is still at stand still waiting for official announcement of the 16 September 2025 polls results, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) is currently holding a press briefing at the party’s headquarters in Lilongwe.

Among notable faces at the presser are Eng. Vitumbiko Mumba, Jessie Kabwila, Monica Chang’anamuno, Ken Nsonda, Richard Chimwendo Banda and Sam Dalits Kawale.

The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) running mate has said the party has gathered overwhelming evidence of electoral irregularities in many polling stations. Mumba cited Mangochi South West as an example, stressing that similar cases have been reported in about 13 districts, where number of total votes cast is more than registered number of voters.
Mumba adds that the party has initiated to lodge formal compliant to Malawi Electoral Commission. He says no one should pressurize MEC to announce the results before auditing the ballot papers and tally sheets, asking the MCP faithful to remain patient
Speaking at the briefing, Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba says the party still remains hopeful that it will triumph in the elections. According to Mumba, the party has uncovered a syndicate pioneered by other parties to disrupt the vote counting process
