Pamoza Tingakwaniska empowers youths

Pamoza Tingakwaniska youth organization has held a talent exhibition at Karonga Freedom Park in an effort to expose youths to potential buyers and empower them to be innovative champions and become self-reliant in their communities.

Speaking in an interview, the Programs manager for the organization, Gomezgani Mhango, said the organization wanted to give a platform to youths to show their different talents to people who can buy their products.

“Today, we have given a chance to different youths to display their talents and also artworks so that people in Karonga can appreciate and support their art and different talent because we want to make the youths self-reliant and refrain from engaging into bad behaviors which can ruin their future,” Mhango said.

On his part, a representative for Senior Traditional Authority Wasambo, Group Village head Mtowela nyifwa Mwakhwawa, commended the organization for the development and said as leaders they are taking a role to uplift the youths.

“This is a very good development and when the organization briefed us leaders about their project, we took a step to create bylaws which are meant to create a smooth environment for the running of this project,” he said.

He has since pointed out that the project has helped in shaping the lives of youths better in his community.

Commenting on the matter, one of the youths who exhibited his talent in art, Osman Zgambo, said the initiative will help in exposing the art of the youths and changing the mentality of people towards art in the district.

The exhibition attracted youths from Karonga and Traditional Authority Mwenewenya in Chitipa and was conducted under the theme of Invention, embracing art and social change.

The organization is implementing the Wanangwa wane project with financial support from the Breuckmann foundation and the German government’s federal ministry for economic cooperation and development in TA Mwenewenya Chitipa and TA Wasambo, Karonga.
