The Association of Women Religious Institute in Malawi (AWRIM) has emphasized the need for collaboration among stakeholders when providing assistance to families affected by Tropical Cyclone Freddy in the country.

AWRIM chairperson Sister Agnes Jonas made the remarks at Kachulu Camp in Zomba where the association donated assorted items to the survivors.

The donated items included sugar, maize flour, soya pieces, cooking oil, sanitary pads, exercise books, toothpaste, toothbrushes, lotion, and soap worth K7 million.

Jonas said the donation was aimed at complementing government efforts in assisting those affected by the storm.

Member of Parliament for Zomba Likangala, Abgail Bongwe, applauded AWRIM for the donation towards the survivors.

Bongwe appealed to the Ministry of Health to provide essential health services to the survivors who are currently living in dilapidated structures.
