UK’s Kings Church, Family of God Church International partner in responding to cyclone disaster in Malawi

United Kingdom (UK)-based Kings Church has partnered with Family of God Church International and other companies and well-wishers in providing relief support to the survivors of Tropical Cyclone Freddy in Malawi.

The churches, led by the founder of Family of God Church International, Bishop William Mandhlopa, on Saturday delivered the supplies to 100 people survivors who are seeking refuge at Chanza Primary School Camp in the area of Traditional Authority Likoswe in the district.

The supplies included medicines, which were handed over to Chiradzulu District Hospital, clothes, cabbages, maize flour, soya pieces, tomatoes, onions and black plastic sheets.

They were valued at MK3.5 million of which Kings Church contributed MK2.8 million while the rest came from Family of God Church International, Best Car Hire and other well-wishers.

Speaking after presenting the donation, Bishop Mandhlopa said the churches were deeply touched by the plight of the people in the camps.

“After seeing how the people had been affected through videos, we had a great compassion that we needed to help them and started researching on the camp that was hard to reach. We have come here with the direction from responsible government offices,” he said.

After the donation, Bishop Mandhlopa said they would report back to their partners in the UK on the way forward, observing that the survivors need more support to recover from the natural disaster.

“We have discovered that apart from the houses that are needed, these people will continue to need food as they have lost their crops when they were close to harvest,” he explained.

The camp vice chairperson, Elias Kambona, expressed gratitude to the churches for the donation, which he described as timely.
