“As an organisation, we are excited that people with various medical conditions from Rumphi will benefit from the donation,” said Chavula.
Representative of Rumphi Civil Society Organisation, Moya Walita, thanked the organisation for the donation and urged management at the health facility to ensure that the drugs benefit people who cannot afford to access paying health services.

In an interview, director of health and social services for Rumphi District Hospital, Western Nyirenda, described the donation as a timely intervention for service delivery at the hospital.
“Most of our essential drugs were burnt down when the pharmacy was gutted down by fire in October, and this means that we have to start restocking it all over again.
“In addition, our drug utilisation rate is very high. So we are excited that one of our partners in health has come forward to assist us with essential drugs,” said Nyirenda.
The donation, among others, included amoxyln, gentamicin injection, acrataphane, diclofenac, and povidone iodine.
