The Young Politicians Union (YPU) has called for concerted efforts to mobilize resources for young aspiring politicians for the forthcoming general elections.
Young Politicians National Director Clement Makuwa told Nthanda Times in an interview that financial constraints are hindering many youths from actively participate in political sphere, hence the need for more support towards them.
He has further emphasized on the need to impart the youth with both public speaking and voter mobilization skills, stating that many youths are lacking voter mobilization skills to gain political mileage in the run –up to the 16th September, elections.

According to Makuwa its high time that youth shift from mere spectators to active politicians by relegating them to marginal roles in the political sphere.
“We have to give space for the youth to actively participate in the Malawi’s political sphere as to shape the country’s political landscape.
For long period of time, Youth have been used by politicians to fuel violence and unrest in country and now youth should make transition from mere spectators to active leaders in political circles,” said Makuwa.
He has further called on political party leaders to create inclusive environments for aspiring young Politicians.
