Convention Chairperson, Kezzie Msukwa, disclosed this Tuesday at the party’s headquarters in Lilongwe during a press briefing ahead of the convention.

Msukwa said the party has thoroughly reviewed all candidates to ensure they meet the necessary criteria and qualifications for the positions they are vying for.

“All party candidates were vetted and reviewed to ensure that they meet the requirements of the party and the convention,” said Msukwa.

He emphasised the significance of upholding the party’s values and foundation, reaffirming its dedicated commitment to promoting loyalty for the sustainable progress and continuity of the party.

MCP Publicity Secretary, Ezekiel Ching’oma, underscored the importance of unity among party members in upholding its Constitution and adhering to the principles of the convention.

He urged unsuccessful candidates to continue supporting the political entity without causing disruptions, emphasizing that the party is greater than any individual.

“I urge all delegates not to be lied to by candidates to disrupt the indaba if they happen to fail to occupy their positions. As a party, we will remain committed to upholding our values,” said Ching’oma.

Director of Elections, Elias Chakwera, expressed the party’s reliance on well-wishers and the proceeds from nomination fees for the convention.
