Speaking during the opening of the two-day training at Kasangu Primary School in Dowa recently, FAWEMA Project Officer Clement Kwaule said the training is aiming to equip School Management Committees (SMC), chiefs, Parents and Teachers Associations (PTAs), and Mother Groups in Chinkhwili zone with knowledge on SRHR.

Kwaule also urged community members to work together and ensure that young people have access to accurate information and services to protect them from unexpected pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections, and other sexual health challenges in their communities.

“The organisation believes that community involvement is essential in addressing challenges faced by adolescents,” said Clement Kwaule.

FAWEMA is implementing a 5 year project in 43 schools titled “Innovations for Human Rights and Development (iHEARD)” in the districts of Dowa, Lilongwe, and Ntchisi with financial support from Global Affairs Canada (GAC).

The project, innovations in Health Rights and Development seeks to reduce school dropout cases due to pregnancies and child marriages through establishment of clubs in schools where learners share SRH information.
