The Anti-Corruption Bureau has reintroduced the vetting and clearance system for all change-of-ownership applications for motor vehicles, houses and land, saying the move is necessary to strengthen oversight and curb illegal disposal of assets, effective November 13, 2025.

Acting Director General Gabriel G. Chembezi said the bureau has brought the system back because circumstances now demand additional scrutiny.

“We are reintroducing this process because a need has arisen. All applications will undergo vetting to ensure property is not used to conceal proceeds of crime,” said Chembezi.

He said the bureau paused the system in August 2021 but always indicated it could return if the situation required it.

Chembezi also assured the public that the ACB will process submissions promptly.

“We will complete vetting within four working days to avoid disrupting service delivery,” he said.

He further appealed for cooperation from both officials and citizens.
