TNM Super League outfit, Silver Strikers is set to miss the services of their talented midfielder Chimwemwe ‘Gatusso’ Idana along their journey of defending the 2024 Super League Championship.
Formerly, Malawi’s international and Nyasa Big Bullets 2020/2021 player of the season, Idana has officially bid farewell in style having won player of the match against Karonga in a Super League on Wednesday and led the Central Bankers to the victory of First Capital Bank 30th anniversary celebrations cup against Blantyre giants, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets 2 -0 played at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Sunday.
According to Silver Strikers Chief Executive Officer, Patrick Chimimba, Idana eyes a new lease of life as he is set to join Zambian based outfit Zanaco having sealed a two years contract that could sustain him up to 2027 with the team.
However, Chimimba could not be drawn into disclosing the signing on fee following Idana’s new endeavours.
Meanwhile, Silver Strikers have confirmed Idana’s departure on their official Facebook page.

In extension, his legacy with the bankers started in 2023 on loan from Tanzanian side Mbeya FC before putting on paper and ink a permanent deal with the Area 47 Club in the same year.
During his stay at the Area 47 outfit, Idana emerged as the top most valued player, having led the end of Central Bankers 11 years trophy drought to the Malawi’s finest top flight championship and has also won the team different awards whilst with the bankers.
Meanwhile, reknowned football analyst, Mabvuto Kambuwe has congratulated Idana as he is set to explore his international exposure, adding that his standard level of excellence is what has attracted interest from the Zambian side.
Idana embarked on his professional career from FCB Nyasa Big Bullets reserve in 2017 before being promoted to the main team in between 2018/2019 season and featured in Malawi National Football Team, the Flames in his six years involvement with the Bullets. Idana has been with Area 47 based Silver Strikers from 2023-2025
