Chakwera pays tribute to Kasambara’s contributions to legal fraternity, Police investigate cause of death

Chakwera described the late Kasambara as a dedicated civil servant and prominent figure in Malawi’s legal fraternity.

According to a Lingadzi Police Situation report, Kasambara died suddenly in the room he’d booked to stay for over two weeks at Damron Lodge in Lilongwe’s Area 47.
On Thursday 6th June 2024 at around 1800 hours, the deceased went into his room and did not go out.
“Today on 07/06/2024 at around 1400 hours, the Manager knocked into the deceased room for cleaning purpose but found the door half open and there was no response of the knock. Upon peeping into the room, she saw the deceased lying down besides the bed.

“She then informed her boss who further reported the matter to Police. Police officers from Malawi police headquarters, central west region headquarters and Lingadzi police station accompanied by Dr. Andrew Mwale from Kamuzu Central Hospital went to the scene whereby different types of drugs were found in the room plus different types of beers where he was lodging” reads the situation report.
According to the report which quotes the deceased’ brother Charles Kasambara, Raphael 56, had a heart problem and was on medication.
The situation report further indicated that the scene had no any marks of violence as it was seen that the late lawyer moved from the bed and slept on the floor and he really slept on a pillow. It was also observed that the deceased was trying to have a first aid on his own as he was found with a wet towel on his chest.
