President Dr Lazarus Chakwera on Monday presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction a new complex for the Malawi Housing Corporation (MHC) head office in Lilongwe.
Speaking during the ceremony, MHC Chairperson Rev. Jareck Kachipanda, said construction of the office complex will help in reducing the corporation’s operation costs.
According to Kachipanda, construction of the office complex starts immediately after the ground breaking ceremony.
The proposed head office, a five-storey building, will be constructed in area 20 in Lilongwe behind the War Memorial Tower in Area 18.
Contractors for the project, Henan and Guoji, says,the project is expected to be completed in a year.
