Karonga United FC drowns Moyale Barracks

Date:

Moyale Barracks suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Karonga United in the TNM Super League on Wednesday at Karonga Stadium.

Allen Chihana’s and Mwisho Youngson’s strike in the 56th and 65th minute respectively were enough to hand Moyale Barracks their 13th loss of the season, placing them 11th on the log table with 23 points from 19 games played.

It was not an exciting match to watch especially in the first half as both teams were casual and played with the same pace, not good enough to register any goals after 45 minutes.

However, in the second half, both teams seemed rejuvenated after making some substitutions.

Karonga United FC took the lead in the 56th minute through Chihana who successfully fired a shot in the net after receiving a banana curved pass from Josiah Duwa.

Mwisho Youngson doubled the lead for Karonga United in the 65th minute when he converted a pass received from Tony Nyango, making it hard for Moyale Barracks to equalise.

All the coordinated attacks for Moyale Barracks failed to produce tangible results as Karonga defense remained watertight.

In a post-march interview coach for Moyale Barracks, Nicholus Mhango accepted the defeat saying that it was the failure of players in attacking host the team. He also attributed fatigue as the main reason for the loss.

On his part, Karonga United coach Treva Kajawa was pleased with the results acknowledging dedication and hard work of the players helped the team to do better.

Karonga United FC is currently on 6th position of the log table with 27 points and have won seven games out of the 19 games played.
