FDH Bank Boosts Cup Sponsorship to K250 Million

FDH Bank has announced an increase in sponsorship for the FDH Bank Cup, raising the total package from K150 million to K250 million.

The announcement was made on Friday during a colorful ceremony held at Mpira Village in Chiwembe, Blantyre.

Speaking at the event, FDH Bank Commercial Manager Ronald Chimchere said the increase is in response to the rising cost of living and the growing logistical demands teams face in organizing and participating in the tournament.

“We are aware that prices have gone up, and football teams require more resources to meet various costs. That’s why we have increased the package. We want to support the game better and ensure teams are able to compete effectively,” said Chimchere.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) General Secretary Alfred Gift Gunda applauded FDH Bank for its unwavering support of Malawian football, noting that the increase in sponsorship reflects the bank’s confidence in the competition and the sport at large.

“This is a big leap and a great sign of commitment. FDH is not only sponsoring the national team but is also investing in grassroots and club football through this tournament. Their support continues to uplift football in all tiers,” said Gunda.

With the FDH Bank Cup now drawing teams from all three football tiers — Super League, National Division League, and regional leagues — the competition is set to be more inclusive and competitive than ever before.
