Govt introduces special allowances for civil servants

The Malawi Government has introduced special allowances for civil Servants as part of ongoing efforts to improve the welfare of civil servants in the country.


A letter Secretary for Human Resource management and development, B.G Chilabade, has issued states that the allowances will be effective from 1st October, 2023.

Chilabade says different rates will continually be paid per month according to a grade, which one belongs.

“From Grade C to I they will be receiving K40,000 Malawi Kwacha, Grade J to N K30,000 Malawi Kwacha whilst Grade O to R will be pocketing K20,000,” says the statement, adding that the special allowance shall be subject to periodic review alongside other allowances.
