Police in Limbe, Blantyre, are hunting unknown criminals who have murdered a medical doctor and lecturer at the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS), Victoria Bobe.

Limbe Police spokesperson Aubrey Singanyama told Malawi News Agency on Tuesday that the incident occurred in the evening hours of Monday, November 17, at Bobe’s home in Chigumula.

“Yes, I can confirm that we received a report around 11:00 pm yesterday that unknown criminals invaded a house in Chigumula and murdered a woman identified as Victoria Bobe. I cannot reveal much as investigations to arrest the suspects to answer charges of murder are underway,” Singanyama said.

Reports indicate that the suspects attacked the private guard of the house, drilled a hole through the brick fence wall, and broke into the main bedroom where they found Bobe and her husband.

It is further reported that the gunmen demanded money before shooting Bobe in the head. They later stole a laptop and two empty bags.

The remains of Bobe, aged 33, were taken to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. They are currently being kept at the College of Medicine Mortuary pending postmortem.

Bobe hailed from Magombo Village, Traditional Authority Mkaya in Balaka District.
