“First of all, let me thank the people of Dedza Central Constituency and MCP for trusting me to be their torch bearer during the upcoming September parliamentary by-elections.

“If I’m voted into power, I will concentrate on completing various developmental projects that were started by my predecessor, Daniel Chiwere and work with developmental committees to identify and implement projects,” said Gwengwe.

On his part, MCP National Executive Committee Member, Lymon Zimpondo, who represented MCP Director of Elections Elias Chakwera said he was glad that the primary elections were peaceful, fair and without complaints.

“We all came here as MCP supporters and we all want our party to win again in the upcoming elections. So I urge other contestants to support the winner so that we should have a strong party,” he said.

The seat for Dedza Central Constituency became vacant following the death of Daniel Chiwere, who died in July, 2023.
