Kabambe made these remarks earlier today during the presentation of his nomination papers to stand for the presidential seat at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.

He said that as the presidential aspirant for the upcoming elections, it is his and his party’s aim to emerge victorious and to address the challenges faced by Malawians, emphasising that no candidate enters a competition expecting to lose.
“Mark my words, in the upcoming elections I am going to carry the day and I will win the upcoming elections,” he declared.
He observed that three major problems have caused stagnation in the country’s development: corruption, tribalism, and incompetence, which require urgent attention.

“As I have worked in public service under the Ministry of Agriculture, Finance, and the Reserve Bank of Malawi, I have observed that we have corrupt politicians, tribalism in the workplace, and incompetence in recognising the right individuals for certain roles,” Kabambe noted.
He then called on UTM supporters and Malawians at large to support him and his party to ensure that Malawians have access to a better Malawi.
Dr. Kabambe also announced that Dr. Mathews Mtumbuka, the presidential advisor of UTM, will be his running mate as they campaign for the upcoming presidential elections.
In her remarks, the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson, Justice Annabel Mtalimanja, stated that in elections, there is only one winner who carries the day; therefore, aspirants should remind their followers to remain calm if things do not go as expected.
The presentation of candidacy nomination papers for the 16 September 2025 general election commenced last week on Thursday, 24 July, and will conclude on 30 July this week.
