Lilongwe registers cholera case

Lilongwe district has registered one cholera case at Mgona Township.


Lilongwe District Health Office Public Relations elations Officer Richard Mvula has confirmed the development, stating that a 27-year-old woman tested positive for cholera.

But Mvula said the patient is currently in good health and has returned to her family after receiving treatment.

“We are intensifying messages, as we all know Cholera is all about hygiene if one is not following hygienic measures then he/she is at risk of contracting the disease,” Mvula said.

“Currently we are also encouraging households to have sanitary facilities observe hygienic measures at all time in order to prevent further spread of the disease,” he added.

He said on 15th September 2023, the woman was treated as a suspect at Area 25 Health Clinic until it was confirmed to be a Cholera case.
