Tragedy has struck the football world as Diogo Jota, the 28-year-old Portuguese forward for Liverpool FC, has died in a car accident in Zamora, Spain, 10 days after he wedded his partner.
The incident also claimed the life of his younger brother, André Jota, 26, a professional footballer for Penafiel.

The news was first reported by Spanish newspaper Marca.
According to Marca, the fatal crash occurred at kilometer 65 of the A-52 highway, in the Sanabria region of Zamora, during the early hours of the morning.
The vehicle, carrying both brothers, veered off the road and caught fire. Witnesses called emergency services after seeing the car engulfed in flames, which quickly spread to surrounding vegetation.
Diogo Jota joined Liverpool in 2020 from Wolverhampton Wanderers for €44.7 million. Since then, he played 182 matches, scored 65 goals, and delivered 26 assists.

Jota was previously signed by Atlético Madrid in 2016 from Paços de Ferreira, but was immediately loaned to FC Porto and later to Wolves, before moving permanently in 2018.
