Malawi to participate at International crafts festival in India
Malawi will participate in the 37th Surajkund International Crafts Festival slated for 2nd to 18th February in New Delhi, India.

According to a statement from Ministry of Local Government, Unity and Culture, Malawi will participate in the event through crafts, fashion, folk music and dance performances.

“Malawi contingent to the festival has been carefully selected to represent the country through the befitting art genres,” it reads.
A 14 member team from Malawi comprises of Lawrence Daka of Dongilo Arts and Crafts, Regina Mlambe who creates her art from recycled materials, Rajab Misesa of Aburaj Fashion Brand, Maggie Kadrum an Afro-Jazz singer, songwriter and guitarist among others.
Organized by Surajkund Mela Authority and Haryana Tourism in collaboration with the Union Ministries of Tourism, Culture and External Affairs, Surajkund Festival is the world’s largest crafts fair.
The annual event celebrates the lesser known folk traditions and cultural heritage of India with the aid of fine and performing artists invited from all over the world.
Surajkund International Crafts Festival was first held in 1987 and is renowned for its ability to attract lovers of arts and crafts from all over the world.
Malawi first participated in the event in 2020.
