Unpacking the manifesto, Chakwera said the party in the next five years will build and deliver on the five pillars namely; food security, job creation, wealth creation, service delivery and governance reform.
He said under the pillar of food security all the critical focus areas identified for achieving food security in the country will be brought together in the “Make Malawi Feed Malawi Campaign” to achieve a food sovereign Malawi by 2030, whereby every household will have a nutritious food for the whole year.
“On job creation, the next MCP led government’s drive to create jobs for Malawians shall be anchored by the Jobs4Life concept. This concept will transform Malawi’s employment landscape by creating an enabling environment where every Malawian, regardless of background, has access to dignified and lasting work opportunities.
“We commit to creating at least 3,000,000 jobs within the next five years,” Chakwera said.
On pillar number three, which is wealth creation, Chakwera said there will be an introduction of the “Ten –Ten Makwacha Youth Challenge” linked to training and financial support either directly or through institutions to provide loans, leases, bonds, guarantees and other financial services to support entrepreneurial and industrial development by youth in the sectors of Agriculture, Tourism and Mining.
“Under governance reform, our promise is to build a just, transparent and prosperous Malawi where government works for the people in every village, town and city.
“Some of the key areas of interest are on the electoral reforms to amend the Local Government Act in 2025/2026 fiscal year to allow city and municipal residents to elect their mayors directly,” he added.

On the last pillar, which is public service delivery, the MCP leader said under his second term MCP will drive all governance reforms to deliver the Chakwera Masterplan, a set of 72 specific public services for making Malawi a strong society, a strong economy and a strong democracy with eight categories of services under each, and three measurable and actionable promises in each category.
Before outlining the manifesto, the president took time to thank all Malawians for the support rendered to him during his five-year term.
He said although Malawians have gone through a lot in the past five years due to COVID-19, Cyclones, Cholera, and drought caused by El Nino weather conditions, they have been able to support him to stay on track with focus on development.
“I am grateful to God that through your prayers, support, resilience and hard work I have been able to complete many development projects across the country,” Chakwera said.
He therefore urged all Malawians to vote for him and MCP on 16th September.
The launch was spiced up by performances from various artists such including the Black Missionaries, Skeffa Chimoto, Jetu, Dan Lu, and Mansintha CCAP Women’s choir, among others.
MCP has become the first party to launch its manifesto and campaign after the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) launched the campaign period from 14 July to 14 September, giving political parties 60 days to impress the voters.
