There was jubilation at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) auditorium where the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) elective convention was held following unofficial results from the Malawi Electoral Commission.
So far Catherine Gotani Hara who contested as First Vice President had the highest votes followed by Richard Chimwendo Banda who contested for the position of Secretary General.
The Treasurer General position according to the unofficial results has gone in favour of John Paul.
On Director of Women Jean Sendeza is leading while on Director of Youth Baba Steve Malondela is leading.
On Publicity Secretary, Jesse Kabwira carried the day while on Director of Legal Affairs Jivason George Kadzipatike won.
According to MEC Returning Officer, Christopher Botha, the unofficial results were a reflection of what is on the electoral commission’s dashboard and has assured members that official results will be released after vote counting has been completed.
