Minister Mia joins Muslim World League in rescuing cyclone survivors in Chikwawa

Mia and the league have since delivered a truckload of maize flour to the survivors.

The minister said the donation is the spirit of Operation Tigwirane Manje, which President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera is promoting to raise financial and material resources for supporting the survivors currently living in evacuation centres.
“We have donated maize flour to at least 1, 500 households displaced by flooding caused by Cyclone Freddy three days ago. I complemented the Muslim World League by donating assorted items worth K8 million to over 800 households in a bid to lessen their plight. The items donated included cash for each household, salt, clothes, and maize seed for irrigation,” said Mia in an interview on Friday.
She appealed to the communities to avoid living in low-lying areas and move to higher ground as a life and property-safety precaution in case of future disasters.
