MRA arrests Rhoda Ndovie on allegations of custom offences
The arrest comes barely a day after MRA conducted a search at the residence of Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) president, Enock Kamzingeni Chihana, in Lilongwe as part of investigations into alleged customs offences.
Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) has arrested a clearing agent Rhoda Ndovie on allegations of committing multiple customs offences, including falsification of import documents and tax evasion.
In a statement released on Thursday by the Acting Head of Corporate Affairs for MRA Wilma Chalulu states that, the suspect was arrested on August 26,2025 following a public tip-off about suspected tax offences.

She said, Ndovie, who operates under Limu Clearing, is accused of falsifying import documents by changing the importer’s name and undervaluing goods from South Africa.

“The investigations reveal that the suspect allegedly altered import documents by changing the importer’s name from AFORD/DPP to Rhoda Ndovie-Chigomezgo and Bongani Investments,” said Chalulu
She further said that Dhovie is also accused of manipulating the declared quantity and value of the goods, resulting in an alleged tax evasion of over K300 million.
Meanwhile, the MRA has indicated that its investigation is ongoing and will lead to legal action.
