Independent presidential candidate for the September 16 elections, Phunziro Mvula has expressed commitment to transforming Malawi through development and pledged to deliver a peaceful and value-driven campaign.
Mvula was speaking after presenting his nomination papers to the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) at the Bingu Wa Mutharika International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe on Monday.
The presidential aspirant said Malawi will change in the first 100 days of his administration by ending corruption, debt and leadership arrogance.
“God has heard the cries of Malawians and I have come to save them from all the leaders who have been cheating them,” he said.

In her remarks, MEC Chairperson, Justice Annabel Mtalimanja emphasized the importance of maintaining peace throughout the electoral period, urging candidates to promote civic engagement and voter participation.
“During the campaign, candidates must promote voter participation and talk issues that will develop Malawians not promoting violence,” she said.
Mtalimanja added that the papers submitted by the candidates had passed initial scrutiny, signaling a significant step forward in the electoral process.
“As of now, everything is okay with the papers submitted. However, they will undergo a thorough examination at a later stage,” she said.
Mvula was accompanied by his running mate, Cedric Mkwanda, as they took a crucial step towards the September 16 General Elections.
