Police arrest four over possession of medical drugs, counterfeit products
The Lilongwe Police has arrested four men for being found in possession of assorted medical drugs, equipment and counterfeit maize seed empty sacks.

The suspects have been identified as Joel Chirwa, 51, Albert Samson, 40, Gift Mwembe, 29, and Michael Mailosi, 28.

Lilongwe Police Spokesperson, Hastings Chigalu said acting on an intelligence driven exercise, they found the suspects with various medical drugs, equipment, and counterfeit empty sacks of different maize seed brands such as Kanyani, Mapasa and Njobvu at Mpanipani.
The medical drugs and equipment include 22 bottles of Sulpamethoxazole, 14 cartons of syringes containing 100 pieces each, five cartons of rabies vaccine, 22 packets of ARV Bactrim, 204 isolation gowns, 478, sachets of Artefan disppesible (LA), 5 bottles of ARV, 6 cartons of Zininia P, among others.
“Police have since seized the medical drugs, the counterfeit maize seed empty sacks,” he said.

Chigalu said: “The suspects will appear in court soon to answer applicable charges after analysis of the seized items by the responsible regulatory bodies.”
Joel Chirwa comes from Solomon Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Khonsolo, Mzimba, whilst Albert Samson is from Nambaya Village, T/A Chitekwere, Gift Mwembe comes from Chitunga Village, T/A Mazengera, and Michael Mailosi is from Kalumba Village, T/A Chadza, all in Lilongwe District.
