Mchinji Police Station Public Relations Officer Limbani Mpinganjira told us in an interview that workers at the farm estate reported to the Police when they found the riffle.

“On 04/02/2023, one of the workers at the farm reported to Police that he had found an unknown riflfe hidden in the soil while working. Following the report, Criminal Investigation officers visited the farm and dug out the riffle. They identified it as an  AK47 with fifty ammunitions wrapped in plastic paper and kept in a sack,” said Mpinganjira.

Mpinganjira added that the riffle and the ammunition are being kept at the police station pending further examination by Fire Arms and Ballistics department.
