President Chakwera commend China’s contributions to Malawi

During the meeting President Chakwera took time to highlight major development endeavours initiated by the Chinese government in Malawi.

President Chakwera thanked the Chinese government for its continued assistance to the Malawi government.
The Malawi leader expressed hope that Chinese government will continue to assist Malawi’s developmental endeavours.

Some notable developmental projects that the People’s Republic of China has initiated in the country include the Parliament Building, the Presidential Hotel and the Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe.
Malawi-China relation dates back to 2007 when the Malawi government severed ties with the government of Taiwan.
President Chakwera is in China at the invitation of Beijing to be a Guest of Honour at the Trade Expo currently under way in Changsha City, Hunan Province.
