During a press briefing in Lilongwe, the artist promised a good performance and has wooed people to come and enjoy the music at Civo Stadium on Saturday.
“I am a people’s man and I will do what I have been doing whenever I am on the stage that is to make people happy and enjoy”. he disclosed.
Born Winston Rodney, he indicated that the cancellation rumours didn’t affect his preparations for the shows that he will do in Africa because he started in South Africa.
Spear was welcomed by the Presidential Advisor on arts and culture Q Malewezi who said the legendary reggae star will be accorded VIP treatment in the hands of State House until he leaves the country as one way of acknowledging his contribution to the creativity sector.
Malewezi further said this is because President Lazarus Chakwera respects arts in the country.
Burning Spear visited the Malawian leader where he gifted him with a guitar and the President also gave him a gift welcoming him into the country.
The reggae maestro also visited Mkwichi Secondary School where he donated some learning materials to form four students and also some lunch money before playing some games with them.
The organizers Sound Addicts Live have asked people to come and buy the tickets even at the doors if they failed to purchase them online.
Managing Director of Sound Addicts Live Shadreck Kalukusha described the show as of high magnitude that his team has never organised before adding this one is special.
“The preparations are going on well. We are pretty much ready for the show to happen tomorrow from 2pm. This is another experience we are getting and it will be full of fire tomorrow since the security and everything will be top notch”
This will be part of his Africa tour; a celebration of unity, peace and love – core message of Burning Spear’s music.
Although the Grammy winning Jamaican Reggae artist has come with a full band, comprising 17 people, he will however be supported by some local artists such as Skeffa Chimoto, Sangie, Black Missionaries, Born Afrikan, Zembani and Sean Morgan to mention but a few.
