Speaking during a press briefing in Lilongwe on Wednesday ahead of the fourth National Research Dissemination Conference that will be held from 25 January to 27 January 2023, the Acting Director General for the NCST Gift Kadzamira said research results of any project provide solutions to problems that Malawians are facing.

She further said that relevant research is key for a country to achieve its developmental goals.

“For a country to achieve the agenda 2063 vision, it is recommended that there should be research conducted by different institutions, such as Universities, Development agencies, (MDAs), and other sectors that are taking part in the development,” she said.

Kadzamira: the conference will provide a platform for researchers

She added that the conference will inform the think tank’s decision-making in the development of the country.

“The conference will provide a platform where researchers in the country will avail the opportunity to articulate the intricacies of the research studies that have been conducted, with the hope that the research results will translate into something more tangible, such as evidence-based policy formulation,” said Kadzamira.

On his part, Andrew Jamali, a Research Manager for National Planning Commission, said there is a need to spin up the work and intervention towards manufacturing and science and technology, and innovations.

He said the National Research Dissemination Conference will provide a platform where experts will be able to find out ways that the results of research brought to the table will be used.

“The conference will be a platform of experts, and all research results must be assembled at one place, to see how they are responding to the needs of people,” he said.

National Commission for Science and Technology, in collaboration with National Planning Commission, will jointly conduct the conference, which will attract experts from different organizations that are concerned with the research and technologies.
