Senior Chief Kwataine Masina of Ntcheu District has passed away today at a private hospital in Lilongwe.
The news has been confirmed by Ntcheu District Council spokesperson Maston Kaiya.

The chief, known for his efforts in promoting safe motherhood and reducing maternal deaths in his area, was elevated to Senior Chief in 2012 by President Joyce Banda for his commitment to development and maternal health.

Details of the burial program are yet to be announced.
Senior Chief Kwataine was a prominent figure in Ntcheu, advocating for peace and justice, especially in the wake of tragic events like the death of Vice President Saulos Chilima, and had previously spoken out about the mysterious deaths of notable figures from the district, including Dick Matenje in 1983.
