Six envoys present letters of credence
The envoys are from Colombia, Kenya, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Somalia and Turkiye.
Six non-residential envoys to Malawi on Thursday presented their letters of credence to President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe.
The envoys are from Colombia, Kenya, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Somalia and Turkiye.

In an interview after meeting President Chakwera, Ambassador designate of the Federal Republic of Turkiye, Huseyin Barbaros Dicle said their discussions dwelled on the opportunities the two countries can benefit from each other since Turkiye’s presence is getting more in Africa.
Dicle said Malawi and Turkiye have a common agenda in areas of Agriculture, Trade and Industry.
He said Turkey has now 44 embassies throughout Africa from eight embassies it had in the year 2008.
“So, our relations, traditionally is very much with the northern and eastern Africa now,” Dicle said.
“I’m looking forward to better relations between Turkey and Malawi. Malawi is a very important country for us. This year, actually, our trade volume with Malawi has been doubled. It’s 60 million US Dollars and usually, Turkiye is a net importer from Malawi,” he added.
He also said there are huge opportunities that the two countries need to tap together and therefore, he is trying to attract business people and new investors from Turkiye to come to Malawi.
The other envoys include Maria del Rosario Mina- Rojas , Ambassador designate of the Republic of Colombia, Lilian Tomitom, High Commissioner – designate of the Republic of Kenya, Cuthbert Carlson Nadeska Imara, Ambassadoradn – designate Republic of Nicaragua, Illyas Ali Hassan, Ambassador designate of the Federal Republic of Somalia and Siraj Ahmad Khan, High Commissioner designate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
